Dead Bicycle Dead
Just a few days after hanging shrouds around the city of Richmond, I found one of them was missing. Upon closer inspection, it had been burned to the ground. You can see the melted tyvec on the brick. Burning is a tradition of memorial, so I can’t be mad at their interpretation. Still a bit extreme to burn someone’s project.
Note: Tyvec is extremely flammable.
Dead Bicycles Lives
Put the Dead Bicycles project back into motion with the printing of 15 additional shrouds. Some of those are currently placed around Richmond and a facebook page was started. You can visit it here to see interactions from the community with this project.
Confederacy as Culture
We are currently focusing on culture. Because I am from the North, I chose the Confederacy. More specifically the flag culture of the Confederacy. The intent is to create something that will alter the reaction of individuals with negative views of the Confederate Flag. My initial design combines the symbol of peace with the Southern cross. In addition, a memorial will be designed to continue this application.
You can view my initial visual study by clicking HERE.
Dead Bike Expansion
I am expanding the Dead Bicycle project from one to 15 shrouds. These are silk-screened images on black tyvec. 150′ x 4′ roll cut down to 5′ x 4′. The intent is to increase awareness and response by increased visibility with the project.
Brands = Lifestyle
As a freelance designer, I’ve produced the branding for Thirsty Planet Brewing Company based out of Austin, TX. You can find out more about them here.
Recently, they were notified that someone got a Thirsty Goat tattoo. Something I’ve created is now forever part of this person’s life. What a strange feeling.
